Four seven eleven

It went and got gorgeous, so I pointed my phone at foliage and sky.

Wondered recently if a decision I’d made was just delaying the inevitable. Then realized that if you take the long view, everything is delaying the inevitable.

Lately I’m thinking a lot about health and habits. Discovering that when the kitchen is properly stocked, I find cooking at home far more restful than going out. We’ve managed it every day this week, and I’m hoping the streak evolves into a habit. A thoughtful thorough grocery run on the weekend, then it’s just a little time in the morning to plan, a little time in the evening to prepare. Tonight was tuna tossed with kale and brown rice, and it was awesome. I’d post a recipe but it would basically be: “Buy frozen ahi steaks from Trader Joe’s. Defrost, cut up, stir-fry in wok with kale and brown rice.” (Brown rice=also from Trader Joe’s. You know, the kind you can microwave?)

A habit I’m attempting to re-activate: weight training via a deliberate plan designed by a professional, as opposed to well I guess I’ll do some bicep curls and the leg press and hmm, some lat pulldowns maybe?

And why, yes, writing is in the habit-mix too. After a stretch where all my writing was in the latest iteration of The Secret Paper Journal That Is Secret, I’m creeping back toward my manuscript, slowly and quietly so as not to startle it.

I’ll try to be around here a bit more often, too. There are books I want to tell you about and other things that are or soon will be happening.

How’s your spring so far? Any habits you’re trying to break or create?

I’m trying to exercise during the day at work and failing quite miserably at it.

Seems like the challenge with exercise is always to find the time that’s maximally convenient, because the harder it is to incorporate into your regular routine, the less likely you are to do it. (Sort of similar to finding writing time…)
