It’s been a long time since I’ve had a desk. You know, I have that whole thing of writing in coffeeshops, and/or with friends on a work date, or sometimes at the studio. But yesterday, inspired by a discussion of productivity in which several people expressed that yes, indeed, having a dedicated workspace is Good, I went on a Desk Quest.
Somewhat to my surprise, I found the object of my quest at the third place I visited, not at either of the whimsical vintage shops, but at the discount furniture outlet where it was one of two desks in the entire store.
So here is my newly designated Official Workspace:
The Pacific Northwest landscape photograph comes from the estate sale that preceded the Desk Quest in yesterday’s adventures, and the sepia photo above it, which you can’t see very clearly, is my grandmother and her dog.
It’s near a large bookcase which I could conceivably stock with reference material, if we reorganized the books some. Which might happen.
Yes, that is a different landscape photograph. I bought two at the sale, so I can switch them out. And also yes, that is Snag, who will do his best to inhibit any productivity the new space encourages.

I am in the process of designing at at-home work space. I think my era of the away-from-home office is coming to an end. I have a lot of work to do to get it set up. It’s fun, though. Pictures in about a month, I suspect…
