Here’s where I’ve been this past week.
For four and a half days, I didn’t use the Internet, listen to or watch any media sources. I paid attention to people, the landscape, and the places my thoughts took me as I turned over what I was experiencing.
In the literal sense, I brought minimal baggage, just a carryon and a purse, and observed that this strategy made it easier not just for me, but for others; baggage handlers, airplane seatmates, my companions in a cramped van. In the metaphorical/emotional sense, I had just as much as usual, but I tried to shed some during the week.
I mostly missed Halloween, but as I waited on the tarmac, I saw that one of the baggage handlers was dressed as the Grim Reaper. With a safety vest.
