February 11, 2007 at 8:55 amI think they’re acting something out (as said above, something about a girl being stuck on a fence, a classic scenario in old-fashioned children’s literature). Maybe a scene from a LITTLE COLONEL or ELSIE DINSMORE-type book. They look a little self-conscious, and their outfits look carefully put-together. Isn’t the lower one a girl wearing a woman’s dress?
