I was holding off on posting about this

…because when I found out, I wasn’t supposed to talk about it. But now the book is actually on the website as a forthcoming title, so I am very proud to say that The Rules for Hearts is a featured selection of the Junior Library Guild!

I am thrilled to be in such stellar company.

Speaking of The Rules for Hearts, one of my favorite librarians gave me a (signed!) advance copy of it today, and I’m already finished with it.

I liked it. Good sequel to EotW… I’d like to see more of Nic, though. Obviously not in this book; it wouldn’t have fit well. I mean, though, in another book. You know, if you want to write one.

hey, i’m so glad you liked it!

and i’m pretty sure you’re the first person to comment about Rules on this journal after having read it, so you win.

what, i’m not sure exactly, but you win. :)

I didn’t realize how long The Rules for Hearts was out, I had been anticipating it so long that I didn’t keep track of when it was coming out. Anyway, I had it ordered from Amazon and I finished it within the first 24 hrs I had it in my possession. It wasn’t quite what I expected. I don’t think it told the story completely. I’m actually not sure how to explain it; I guess I was hoping for references between Rules and Empress to be a major part of the book. And Meryl, oh she got on my nerves, LoL, so flip floppy (like most women). I guess it seemed like the book was mostly about theater junkies, rather than Battle herself…

By the way, is that Anna person a joke…I hope so.

Hey, Diana — I’m very glad you picked up Rules, and thanks for letting me know your thoughts! Battle’s a very different sort of narrator than Nic; she doesn’t reveal and analyze herself the way Nic does. So you have to read between the lines much more than you do in Empress…

Also: the Anna person is spam. Thanks for spotting it, I’ll delete the comment. :)
