I’ve been doing some minor website and LiveJournal updating (among other things, I realized that my clever system to cross-post entries at sararyan.com does not preclude using one of the niftier newer journal styles) and thinking about what I should be reading.
Online, I mean. Blogs, news sites, etc. I’m pretty good at keeping up with friends and colleagues, but I’m curious about what’s out there that I’m not tracking, that I haven’t even heard of.
Hence I’m asking y’all…what do you read that I should know about?
I already have a feeling that this is the year I should stop worrying and learn to love MetaFilter. So besides that, what?
Many thanks in advance!

January 3, 2007 at 11:01 amHappy New Year, Sara!
You read The Engine, right? That’s one of my only gotta-read, finger-on-the-pulse stops…

January 3, 2007 at 11:30 amOh man. My RSS feed includes well over a hundred sites, but here are some favorites:
http://www.worldchanging.com/
http://www.idolator.com/
http://joglikescomics.blogspot.com/
http://www.dieselsweeties.com/
http://www.fluxblog.org/
http://www.therestisnoise.com/
http://www.zoilus.com/
And then there’s always ILX, my number-one time waster, although that’s currently down while they’re putting up a new server (well, the “ILX sandbox” is functional, although it’s not exactly user-friendly).

January 3, 2007 at 9:49 pmFor giggle therapy, I’m addicted to Lore Sjoberg at Wired. (Just assume the little Norwegian double-dot thingies are there, I’m too tired to hunt them down) and Go Fug Yourself, which is pointless but no end of fun. For current events the Randi Rhodes Show podcast is my favorite. For random interesting stuff try Plime. Favorite comic strip? Redmeat. Hands down.
Miss you! Call me when you can, we haven’t caught up in too damn long.

January 4, 2007 at 7:13 amI usually check Neilgaiman.com. Neil usually has interesting links to other things that I also find interesting. It’s a quick easy read.
My wife checks out Dailykos.com daily and gives me updates. So while I don’t read it regularly, I get the latest liberal political news from there.

January 4, 2007 at 8:27 amYou have to make time daily to read http://www.moorewatch.com/ because it’s important to keep track of the activities of dangerous Americans.
