I just finished Liquor, by Poppy Z. Brite. I’ve been following her LJ, docbrite, for a while — among other things, it’s my New Orleans reality check of choice — so I was really hoping I’d like Liquor, and boy, did I. Her ear for dialogue is pitch-perfect, her characters are vivid and real. I’m glad there are more books of hers for me to catch up on, too.
