Surprising. Also memes.

Who’d have thought that nasty vapo-rub stuff actually worked?

And because I’m still not at 100 percent, some memes.

“Things I Can Be Bribed With”
I can only think of three:

1. Lush products
2. A cure for this crud
3. Unreleased episodes of The Wire

Guilt
What is yours?
Explain yourself
Culinary: Homemade gingerbread and/or banana bread. They seem vaguely healthy and wholesome, yet are totally not. Literary: LiveJournal. Also, Vogue. Because when I’m supposed to be revising my novel, what’s better than surfing trainwrecks or finding out that we are due for another glamazon moment? Audiovisual: That I didn’t like Firefly. I tried. And perhaps I will try again. But so far, it hasn’t done it for me. Musical: That I listen to the same things over and over. I am all about the auditory comfort zones. But then I feel bad that there are zillions of artists out there that I’d probably totally love, if I would just stop listening to the Mountain Goats and the Magnetic Fields and Veda Hille to find out. Celebrity: I can’t think of anyone. I mean, I’d say Philip Seymour Hoffman, but I feel no guilt about adoring his work.

“They seem vaguely healthy and wholesome, yet are totally not.”

Especially when smeared with butter — my favorite way to eat them.

I keep telling myself that banana bread has bananas in it — that’s a good thing, right?

I one-up you: I have never seen Firefly or Serenity. AND I never really got into Buffy.

    So un-kewl.

I don’t see what’s wrong with not having a boner for Firefly.

Best summary of said series: “It’s like Joss Whedon giving you a sensual massage.”

Oooh, I was gonna ask about what unreleased episodes of The Wire there are… I just finished watching Season Two, and I’m still thinking about its analysis/use of a longshoreman’s union that could have been the Teamsters. Also (should I spoiler-alert this?) What is up with a main character dying? Sad, sad, sad. It made sense, I guess. But still. Man, I love that show.

Also, ditto on the banana bread is “healthy”, also zucchini bread (even “healthier”! I mean, it’s practically BROCCOLI, already.) And, I love the Mountain Goats. They’re almost enough to listen to, really.

Honestly, it brings back really fond memories for me of feeling icky and my mommy rubbing it on my flat little chest. Super sweet.
