Love to get in touch

After the New Year’s Eve party, after the New Year’s Day parties, after our houseguests headed north, after the gym, and errands, and spending time with one of my oldest friends and her mom, I’m alone in the house, for the first time in…quite a while.

I’d forgotten how much I like it.

During the party, a toy car spun out of control and went — we thought — under the couch. Steve deployed the Gopher, and fished around until it connected with an object.

It wasn’t the car. It was my favorite necklace, that I’d resigned myself to having lost. My grandmother’s silver chain choker, circular links stamped with leaves; the effect slightly punk by way of Art Nouveau. I grabbed it and put it on immediately.

I hope everyone’s 2006 is full of joyful and unexpected discoveries, and rediscoveries.

P.S. nevikmoore, we did find the car later.
P.P.S. carapace_green, you were right, there was a chicken. It was behind the beer. Shall we FedEx it?

Don’t fedex the chicken. That chicken has travelled far enough.

You can keep the car. Just don’t leave it outside the bathroom door, unless you are really good at skating.

Sorry we had to bug out so early. Little man can handle only so much. But we were glad to find that Parker knew of a good sitter.

Hey, Kevin, your daughter bequeathed several cars unto my kids! Let me know if you need ’em back.
