I saw live music twice this week. My former teacher, at a bar. One of the guys from the studio, at his church.
Music’s mostly fallen out of my life. Haven’t cracked open my case in years. When I have a minute to think about it, it makes me sad.
But I was talking about how the skills you learn in adolescence stay with you, and my hands shaped an invisible violin and bow.

December 12, 2005 at 12:25 amThe girl who lives next to me in the dorm plays oboe. It makes me miss my oboe, and wonder where I’d be now if I’d actually kept up and *practiced* in middle school.

My mom still has my violin. I think she’s keeping it for sentimental reasons, even though my practice rate, were it a heart rate, would barely register as “alive.”
What I miss are my electric guitars. I wanna make some noize! Skronk!

December 12, 2005 at 12:57 pmHi — you don’t know me from Adam (or Eve, or whatever), but I’m a friend of and she outed you as a librarian or librarian in training who knows a lot about YAF, and that is a combination that I always, always like… is it okay if I friend you? And feel free to do the same. I don’t ALWAYS, always write about books, but I do sometimes, and I tend to comment on them — cf. ‘s post just now.
Vive les bibliothècaires — at least I think that’s “librarians.”
